School Proficiency Exams will take place on: October 30th, 31st
and November 1st Seniors with 17 credits and Juniors with 11.0
credits will take the following exams: Math (Seniors

Scheduled to Graduate in January or June Senior students scheduled to
graduate this school year have been emailed with important information –
please check your email. We will need as soon as
possible: 1. Your name as you would
like it to appear on your diploma, 2. Your height & weight
for ordering caps & gowns, 3. Correct mailing address,
email address and phone number, 4. Payment for your cap

VISIT Seniors and Juniors are invited to attend our fall
visit to Thursday,
November 29, 2007 10:00 am Students must provide their
own transportation to and from the college and we will meet at the flagpole
at 10:00 am. Please sign up in the
guidance office, attendance will be taken and this visit will take care of that
day’s attendance. FINANCIAL
AID NIGHT A financial aid advisor
from WNC will make a presentation and answer questions about financing
college at SSHS on: Thursday November 29th

Coordinators Association sponsors 14 different apprenticeship programs for
those who are 18 years of age or older and who have a high school diploma or
a GED. SCHOLARSHIPS The Bulletin Board
announcing scholarships and other information from the Guidance Office is
located in the front hallway. Current scholarships are
posted – be sure to check the due dates.
Please refer to these announcements if you are interested in any scholarships. THE FAFSA If you wish to be considered for any scholarships that have financial need criteria, you must fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for 2006-2007. You can use the WNCC website http://www.wncc.edu/ for information about applying for financial aid. Students planning to attend other community colleges or universities seeking scholarships with financial need criteria, need to use FAFSA as well. ATTENTION
JUNIORS & SENIORS 1. Dual credit: Earn college credit while attending high
school! Three programs allow a. Fast Track: On Line courses for $25 (plus a one-time $15 registration fee). See a Counselor for a list of classes and instructions for taking a class b. Tech Prep: Occupational Coursework articulated between SSHS instructors and WNCC instructors, $10 (plus a one-time $15 registration fee). c. General Courses: With approval Juniors and Seniors can take WNCC courses for full tuition. Interested students
must fill out both a High School Authorization form and an Application, both
available in the Guidance Office. GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Just a reminder to all Silver State students: You need 22.5 credits in the required subjects - that means you have to pass the classes – and you need passing scores on the Proficiency Exams in order to receive a high school diploma.
